What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is made up of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier.

How does Radiesse work?


It acts as a filler initially. Over time the body’s foreign body cells, the macrophages dissolve the filler/gel carrier and fibroblasts start to form new collagen at around 4 months. After about a year, the filler, new gel is totally absorbed and new collagen has been developed. The treatment can last between 14 to 18 months, depending on your metabolism. Extreme stress, smoking and exercise will reduce the longevity.

 

What to expect?


First we apply a strong numbing cream which needs to work for about 45 minutes and if you wish a dental block or a local infiltration. The skin is cleansed and the injections take about 10 - 15 minutes for one syringe. Radiesse contains an anaesthetic so the injections are quite pain free. There is an immediate result which will reduces about 30% over the next 2 weeks. Radiesse is quite a firm filler and thus takes a little while to settle. Bruising may take place mostly depending on which area is injected.
